Landscape photography

Since moving to a rural location, landscape photography has become a large part of my creative focus. Capturing the mood of the moment and the details within a panoramic vista is my aim.
I’m mostly interested in the clouds and how they offer so much information in terms of shadow and light, translucency, layering, colour and the constantly changing abstract forms and shapes. In many of my shots, the land becomes secondary to the sky and often portrayed as a silhouette that anchors the image..
These images influence the paintings I make both indirectly and directly, especially how they carry the eye in a steady horizontal sweep and how the clouds create ambiguous forms and complicated layering and merging systems.
